There probably isn't a mammal in the landscape that doesn't at some point in its life utilise the various habitats associated with the river. However, when we are dealing with mammal species specifically associated with the riverine habitats, there are only a handful of species to consider. Most others frequent the riparian corridors and are drawn to the water to drink or attracted to the rich insect life that it harbours. Even then, knowing they are there are actually seeing them are two very different things. Most mammals are incredibly nervous about human activity and shy away from any form of noise and disturbance. However here are a few species that if you're really lucky you might, just might run into.
