Education Manager Phil de Burlett at MAKESouthwest (formerly the Devon Guild of Craftsmen) is making good progress with schools engagement in the catchment. Phil explains:
‘MAKE Southwest approached the schools closest to the Teign and asked if they would like to take part in a project related to their local river, art, and conservation. We put together resource packs containing pencils, sketchbook, a couple of sheets of good paper, inks, brushes and printed information on river life (invertebrates, fish, birds and otters) and a list of online resources including The River Teign Restoration Project website. I visited the schools, talked to the interested teachers, and then waited. Bovey Tracey soon got back to me with a collection of 80 rather wonderful drawings. Moreton School has also produced drawings and I’m hoping Chagford will soon follow.’
We’re really pleased to be able to show you just some of the fantastic artwork created by the children, and we are working on a display for all of the pictures. Thanks to everyone who took part, and thanks to Phil for making it all happen.
